Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of JSON Editor at https://jsoneditor.vektosys.com, operated by Vektosys ("we," "us," or "our"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

JSON Editor provides browser-based utilities to format, validate, view, convert, and otherwise work with JSON and related developer data. Processing occurs locally in your browser. We do not require registration or payment to use the core tools described on the site.

2. Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding contract under applicable law. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

3. License to use

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service for lawful personal or internal business purposes. You may not:

  • Copy, scrape, or republish substantial portions of the Service as a competing product
  • Attempt to reverse engineer non-public server components (if any) beyond what the law allows
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service, security, or other users
  • Use the Service to violate any law or third-party rights
  • Misrepresent affiliation with Vektosys

4. Your content and responsibility

You retain ownership of content you paste or generate in the tools. Because processing is local, we do not claim ownership of your JSON. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to process any data you enter, and for verifying that outputs (conversions, schemas, generated code, hashes, and similar results) are suitable for your use case before relying on them in production.

5. No accounts; local storage

The Service does not provide cloud accounts or server-side document storage. Optional preferences and drafts may be saved in your browser via localStorage. Clearing browser data may permanently delete that information. See our Privacy Policy for details.

6. Intellectual property

The Service name, branding, layout, documentation, and original software (excluding open-source libraries licensed separately) are owned by Vektosys or its licensors. These Terms do not transfer any ownership of our IP to you. Open-source components retain their respective licenses.

7. Third-party services

The Service may display links, advertising, or analytics provided by third parties. We are not responsible for third-party sites or services. Your interactions with them are governed by their terms and policies.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT OUTPUTS WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE. See also our Disclaimer.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VEKTOSYS AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, AND CONTRACTORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE — EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US (IF ANY) IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Vektosys from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

11. Changes and termination

We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above. We may suspend or discontinue the Service without liability. Provisions that by nature should survive (including disclaimers and limitations) will survive termination.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Vektosys's place of business, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country apply. Courts in that jurisdiction shall have exclusive venue, subject to those mandatory rights.
