Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Vektosys ("we," "us," or "our") treats information in connection with JSON Editor at https://jsoneditor.vektosys.com (the "Service"). We built the Service so that sensitive developer data never needs to leave your device.

1. Our privacy-first design

JSON formatting, validation, conversion, viewing, comparison, and related tools run entirely in your web browser using client-side JavaScript. We do not upload, receive, or store the JSON (or other content) you paste into the editors. Your payloads are not transmitted to Vektosys servers for processing, and we do not operate a backend that persists tool input.

You do not need an account to use the Service. We do not maintain user profiles, authentication systems, or cloud workspaces for JSON documents on this product.

2. Information we do not collect from tool use

  • JSON documents, file contents, or conversion outputs you process in the UI
  • Account credentials (because accounts are not offered)
  • Server-side logs of editor contents
  • Backend databases of your documents

3. Information stored only on your device (localStorage)

To make the Service pleasant to use, we may store limited preference and convenience data in your browser's localStorage. This data stays on your device unless you clear site data or use browser tools to remove it. Typical categories include:

  • Theme and UI preferences (for example light/dark mode, indent size, font size, word wrap, and similar editor settings)
  • Optional editor draft (if auto-save is enabled, draft content may be kept locally so you can resume work after a refresh — still only in your browser)
  • Recent items list (short previews and local copies of recently edited content, capped and stored only locally)
  • Cookie consent choice (so we remember whether you accepted essential-only or all cookies)

Clearing site data, using private browsing without persistence, or disabling storage will remove or prevent this local data. We cannot recover localStorage contents from our servers because they were never sent to us.

4. Information you choose to send us

If you email jsoneditor@vektosys.com or use the contact form (which opens your mail client), you voluntarily provide whatever you include in that message — typically your name, email address, and the content of your inquiry. We use that information only to respond and to improve the Service. Do not include secrets or production credentials in support emails.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use essential storage for preferences and consent, and may use optional cookies or similar technologies for analytics and advertising if you consent. Details are in our Cookie Policy. Essential functionality does not require you to accept non-essential cookies.

6. Analytics and advertising (optional)

If you accept optional cookies, third-party providers may set cookies or collect aggregated usage metrics (for example pages visited or approximate geography). Those providers process data under their own policies. Optional analytics and ads are not required to format or convert JSON locally.

7. Children's privacy

The Service is directed to developers and professionals. It is not intended for children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. International visitors

The Service is operated by Vektosys and may be accessed worldwide. Because tool processing is local, your JSON does not transit our infrastructure. Support emails you send will be received by us and handled for customer support purposes.

9. Security

No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. By keeping processing in the browser, we reduce the risk that your documents are intercepted on our servers — because those documents are not uploaded. You remain responsible for securing your own device, browser extensions, and clipboard.

  • Use the Service without creating an account
  • Decline non-essential cookies via the consent banner
  • Clear localStorage and cookies in your browser settings
  • Contact us to ask questions about this policy

11. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy where permitted by law.
